2. Engage in the "Understanding the core concepts" discussion:
  • Actively contribute to defining "broad-minded" (e.g., openness to diverse ideas, adaptability) and "transformational" (e.g., constant learning, positive change, impact) in the context of youth work.
  • Explain how these concepts are vital for building a strong "working culture" in your organisation.
  • Discuss how these cultural concepts specifically apply to and influence our digital youth work spaces and activities.

Steps you need to take:
1. Complete the "Culture Assessment matrix" individually:
  • Rate your own organisation's current working culture from the assessment tool on digital capacities of youth work organisations (on a scale of 1-5 or descriptive categories) across six key dimensions (see from page 14): Learning the diversity, Empowering the indifferent and resistant to see digital youth work as an opportunity, Orientation to and experience from networking, Reimagining and redesigning youth work, Young people developing digital youth work, and Making more space for young people’s critical engagement.
  • Provide brief notes or examples to justify your ratings for each dimension, highlighting both strengths and challenges.
2. Participate in small group sharing:
  • Share your individual reflections and insights from the matrix with your assigned small group.
  • Collaborate with your group to identify common strengths and significant challenges or areas for improvement across the organisations represented.
3. Contribute to the plenary share-out:
  • Present 1-2 key strengths and 1-2 key challenges identified by your group to the larger assembly.

Steps you need to take:
1. Reflect on the "Ripple effect":
  • Consider the potential positive impact your actions could have on your organisation and the young people you serve.
  • Share one word or short phrase that describes the biggest ripple effect you hope to create.
2. Make a personal commitment:
  • On a sticky note, write down ONE concrete action you personally commit to taking in the next two weeks to contribute to a broad-minded and transformational working culture.
  • Examples: "Initiate a discussion with my team about digital well-being," "Seek out a new digital tool recommended by young people," "Actively listen to a colleague's dissenting opinion during a planning meeting."
3. Contribute to the "Commitment wall":
  • Place your sticky note on the designated "Commitment Wall," visually signifying your pledge.
